Looking for a Motion graphic/template.

Hi everyone.

Do any of you know where I could find a motion (template?) of email going through outer space.

To be clearer, I have a part in a video project where the VO talks about a bullying email being just as damaging to people as regular eamil or dialog. So i thought that something where there were lots of emails going through space ala star wars title kind of thing or what ever i can get my hands on. And of coarse I have little or no money.

Thanks

Jonathan

Not sure if this helps ... but it is reasonably priced and offers a starting point.

from the Hobbyshop Dept., slammed together within a minute:

Space pic by NASA (btmk, NASA pics are all public domain... check before publishing)
Mail pic by google (… check that before publishing ;) )
Animation = Motion/Lib/Bubble Machine)
replace bubble by eMail icon
added some gravity
made life span longer …

… you could juggle with some parameters to give a different 'move pattern'

looking cheap? perhaps, if Motion is on your platters = no costs....

Hi ButchM.

Yeah, I have seen that plug in. thanks.

Karsten, That looks very close to what I am looking for. I do own and am current on Motion, but aside from poking around in it, it is really a mystery to me. Slapped together in a bout a minute? Hell, it took me 5 minutes just to find the app to launch!

I really would like to learn Motion but have no idea where to start.

Ripple Training videos for Motion will give you a good start in learning the app.

What Bob said... Mark Spencer is not just a guru for Motion, he's also an exceptionell teacher - in my case, to make matters worse: in an alien language!

aside the hundreds of free tutorials at YT, rippletraining.com offers some 'books' to dive in..

And read my recipe, in my first post: it's 'just' modifying an Motion-included, existing 'particle system', you drag'n drop the icon onto the 'bubble'- Okay, that graviry thing is Apprentice Level II ....

Bubble Machine is also a good start for flying hearts (=at schools film club, we had a lil' love story to illustrate) or, for Advanced Level 3 users, flying all sorts of flags (=another school project, indicating 'international' ....)

Steam learning curve, but the many teachers here at fcp.co (Ben, Tom, ....) will tell you, easy does it ;)

Fast results you get with Marks " Motion in under 5 minutes " (<< link to YT playlist) .... ok, in some parts he's a bit hasty  (he uses tons of keyboard shortcuts, I've never heard of ....)

I forget to ask: would it help, I upload my sketch? For a start? ....

Thanks Bob.

Karsten, that "sketch would be really helpful. Is that the file or "template" I see in your other post?

Is that Motion project available for viewing?

Thanks both for the Ripple training suggestion.

it's a Motion Project I zipped it to be sure, you get all pieces

3 parts in 1 folder:
the project - double click will open it in Motion
and the two graphics, earth/NASA and that gmail icon ...

thats the one you see in my first post here....
'in action' you probably want the 'swarm' flying in a specfic direction, or less eMail, or even more, or adding a nice cam pan... ... options are infinite ...

It's done without keyframes, just behaviors:
Schwerkraft = gravity ... otherwise, the eMails will never reach Earth
Random Motion = ... ehm ... does .... you get it ...
Scale over life = giving some '3D'-ish look...

so, let it run, and adjust 'live' to your needs...

I'm now afk, late here (my timezone), <Arnies voice> I'll be back! ... in a few hours :woohoo:

hmm, can not attach my file, so get it from my google drive.

Karsten,

I can't thank you enough!!! I've been playing around with your files and really love this. I replaced the earth background with a different image.

So do I need to purchase this from you to use? It is just perfect for what I am doing!!!!!

Thank you so much. Motion is a real head scratcher  :silly:

Thanks for stepping up to help out. If I can use this, is there a copyright or anything?

<Robin's voice> Gooood morning, America!
<yawn> … where's my coffee .... ?

For sure not. Free to use.
It really took just a minute to 'staple' a few ready-mades together.
Plus, fcp.co is such a superb community, it's give-and-take here; have alone a look in the 'Plug in' section of this board, so much expertise, so much creativity - for free.

Glad I could help; next time you help me ... ;)

Enjoy movie making!

Karsten,

I really want to thank you so much for that! You are correct, there is so much wonderful information out on the web and people like you that help out others really makes that experience all the more wonderful.

Go back 25 years ago and if someone asked if I need help from someone in Germany, well that would be a $20.00US phone call! With all the crap that is going on, it seems puzzling that the world is getting crazier when technology should bring us closer together.

I am getting REALLY good with sound and audio for video as well as being pretty much an expert at still photography, so if there is anything I can offer you my friend, you know where to find me.

Best wishes.
