Audio Problem With Multi-cam was created by sonictimbo
I am currently editing a multi cam music video. One of the angles is the audio mix. When I use a transition (Gradient Image) it affects the audio track too. I have the blue 'Edit Video Only' box selected on my angle viewer but it's changing the audio too (putting weird crossfades into it!)
Is there something I'm missing?

Don't have to detach (though I usually do for multicam until cutting is fixed), expanding the audio is sufficient. If you expand before applying the transition it should cross fade the audio.

Cheers Tom, I don't want to affect the audio at all - just the video transitions, so will expand do that?
By the way, how do you re-attatch the audio afterwards? (Or do you need to?)

You can't reattach the audio except by making a compound. Expanding is sufficient if you do it before making the transition. Then you can collapse it.
Because multicam actually cuts the audio (bad FCP bad), if I have continuous audio, like a performance, I detach it otherwise key framing the audio and effects becomes a nightmare, especially when you have to work long into the night to fix it.

Yeah, I wish there was some form of "Audio Angle" that you could assign to angles in the Angle Editor, and choose that transitions etc didn't affect it and that you could move it in sub frame increments to sync it properly in angle editor.

Isn't this the case with regular clips too? I've found this "feature" so frustrating about FCPX - video transitions should only apply to video - if you want an audio transition you should be able to add it separately - have I missed something?
