All,
Take a look at this shot of an FCPX timeline. Dustin Hoye says that Final Cut Pro X is working for him with episodic TV

I find it interesting that Dustin seems to be skipping 'many benefits' of magnetic timeline by editing mainly with connected clips and having gaps on primary storyline. I also generally work this way because I want to move clips freely without affecting other clips but I guess that's not how Apple intended software to be used? Or are we still stucked to FCP7 work methods?

I think you've got it right. When looking at an FCP10 timeline most of us still look at it with the eyes of a classic FCP (or any other) NLE editor. I'm slowly starting to get over this and it is my experience that once you get there it opens many new ways of constructing your edit. I work almost like this, using the magnetic timeline as the base of my story where I really do enjoy all its benefits, connected clips (or connected compound clips) for B-roll and cutaways, and secondary storylines for stories within the main story. It's a great concept. The one difference I see is that he leaves many of the secundaries on their own "track" while you could just overwrite most of them onto the main storyline. But then the Timeline would look less impressive ((-:

You also do not see many items in compound clips. I know I didn't nest items often unless I wanted to effect something as a group but it looks like he can clean up the items that are approved to compound clips. I know this is how apple intends to use compound clips. In their demo they show items like this in FCP7 stacked up and the same timeline in FCPX with a lot of compound clips and auditions showing the unique features of FCPX and how clean the timeline can look but still be very complex.
Regardless of how the timeline works (I've seen very messy timelines) I am excited to see that FCPX has made its way in to Episodic TV. I have started to cut much of my professional work with FCPX, there are still a few projects that I keep going back to FCP7 (mainly weddings for multicam) but I cant wait til the next update to move even more into FCPX.
