Hello. I'm curious about messing around with the Event folders. I chose show package contents on an event (purple icon) on one of my internal drives. I saw the analysis files, my event, Original Media, Render folder and Transcoded Media. I copied a random video as a test into the Original Media folder. I then launched FCPX. The copied video was not present in FCPX. I then did the import function but it's interesting that FCPX can not see into it's own purple event folder. Any ideas? How can I just drop in media through the folders or is the software designed to just import via the built in tool?

The way I understand it, FCPX is essentially a database and therefore wants to catalog all of the relevant assets during import.
The general rule is "Don't mess with Library Package contents" because you risk corrupting the database.
You can however simply drag and drop media from the finder into an event in FCPX. This will import the media into FCPX w/ the default settings for that library, basically allowing you to skip the import options window.
You mentioned opening an "Event" package. If you are on (or even close to) the current version, this should actually be a "Final Cut Library". I forget which version introduced Library's, but if you're on an older version you should really update.
You will find much better media management options, including the option to store media externally or leaving files in place.
Regardless, FCPX will still want to "catalog" the media during import.

FCPX doesn't analyze those folders every time it launches. You have a Library database file, and a database file for each Evert and Project. The data in there. When FCPX launches, it reads the database files only. Those databases are where all the metadata and such is. Database, metadata, that's the core of FCPX.

It is also a horrible idea to go manipulating the contents of a Library package manually like that. Just do it inside FCPX. Why do it manually, what would be the point?
