FCPX and the 2013 MacPro hang from time to time, twice today already and the only way to get out of it is to do a hard shutdown using the On/Off button on the computer. Checking the logs I see that there is something going on with the GPUs and Kernel. The GPU tries to restart but it is never able to complete the restart. Yesterday I wiped the hard drive and installed a new OS and FCPX. Today I am getting the same hangs and sometimes I get a crash when trimming a clip. My equipment is Late 2013 MacPro, OS X 10.10.3, FCPX 10.2.1, AMD 700 GPU, Pegasus R6, Shuttle Pro 2, 2-27" Apple monitors. I this problem on the feedback form so I am hoping that Apple knows about the problem and fixes it soon.

You might want to take your system to a service technician.

I read "FCPX and the 2013 MacPro hang from time to time.." and thought, what a great story, I'd hang with them, grab a drink, talk shop, they'd be great to hang with! Then I read the rest of it.

Yeah, Tom is correct, that is a hardware issue for sure. Get that Mac checked by an Apple retail store of an Apple authorized service center, ASAP.

Dear All,

I have encountered this same issue. I was using Mac Pro late 2013 3.7GHz Quad core ( stock model ). The application that I am using is softron movierecorder and OnTheAirVideo. At first I though it was the application. I have check through the log and found the same issue dealing with graphic cards. I also did a clean install but the issue still come back.
It will usually happen one time ( at least ) on a day.

I have sent the Mac Pro to apple service centre. They have done the hardware checked and they comment that they did not found hardware issue during apple hardware diagnostic test. This is really frustrating.

I am desperately looking for solution for these.

Cheers.

Are there compound clips and/or compound clips with titles in your project? I find that they can often cause the program to hang/beach ball. You might try breaking about your compound clips and see if that helps.

Just a thought. Good luck.

I will have to agree with Dan, this is not a hardware issue. No other program makes this happen. Also has nothing to do with compound clips, the latest edit is just a rough edit of some clips.

When I say it hangs, locks up or whatever you want to call the problem if the video is playing the audio will still be heard until the timeline is played out. Yesterday I allowed FCPX to be in the hang state for a half hour to see if the GPU card was able to restart. No the card was not able to restart so I had to a hard shutdown. This is definitely a bug in FCPX.

I wiped the hard drive and re-installed the OS and all of the apps. Same problem still. Motion does not make the computer hang.

Fill out feedback form for sure, anyway. I've never seen or heard of this issue before.

Disconnect everything, do a test project off the system drive. See what happens.
