How Do I Balance The Lighting / Remove Scene Line?

Hi,

I saw a Youtube video which showed how to clone someone in a video.

I decided to try this with me as the subject and considering I'm a new user of FCPX it worked reasonably well except that the lighting changes slightly in each scene and it is annoyingly noticeable.

The scene is only about 45secs long and although when I filmed the sequence the outside light appeared to remain the same it clearly didn't.

So my question is whether I can take the whole footage and balance the lightning?

In addition, one of my scenes has a noticeable line where it separates from the scene beside it. How can I go about removing this line?

Thanks for your help.

Depending on where and how often the lighting changes in your video, you may be able to locate the frame of the change, blade it in the timeline and adjust exposure and color as necessary to match the preceding part of the clip. Skim along to the next change in lighting and repeat the process. If there are only a few portions of light variations in the whole 45 seconds then this should fairly easy to do. If the light changes are more of a flickering, then the process could become tedious. Although you say the lighting when filmed appeared to be the same, even subtle changes in outdoor light can be noticeable. Also, if you shot with an auto iris turned on, that could cause variances in the recorded image.

As for the line, depending on the location within the frame there are likely a few different ways to remove it. If you have the plugin SliceX (from CoreMelt), you can use the object remover to mask out the line and replace it with adjacent frame content. If the line is located over a lot of moving content this becomes more difficult. A screen shot would be helpful in order to suggest other options.

Many thanks for your reply, that's really helpful.

I have started to break down the areas in which the lighting changes and adjust the exposure which is evening up and looking less noticeable.

I haven't added any plug-ins to FCPX so would say I don't have SliceX but will look it up.

Thanks again.
