What are you switching from? First time users or upgrading from older version of FCPX?

The biggest change from 10.1 to 10.2 is not in the application at all but in the upgrade to the OS. The application has a lot of new features and higher system requirements but as far as FCP is concerned the upgrade is seamless.

Install the new app, open the Libraries, they'll want to update, not a big deal.
If you're worried, copy your FCPX 10.1 app to a safe place, and your Libraries, too. Then just update as usual, leaving the backups in place just in case something goes wrong.

Probably for basic editing without too many effects. Stay away from the 3D titles.
