I don't visit the cover page. I don't visit Apple.com. These are things that I usually learn from posts on a forum. It's also harder with what Apple is calling their OSes. I'm a numbers guy, not a fancy name guy. So if I saw 10.10.4 I'd have likely connected the dots.
You guys are making it very clear to me that I need to follow Apple much more closely than I do in order to be welcome here.

Too bad you don't have the time to visit the cover page, it's actually a great resource for keeping up to date with what is new with FCP X. I bookmark that page, then click on the forum after I check the headlines. It's not a cumbersome to time consuming task. Not all of the content is applicable or important to all users, but the depth and breadth of what is offered in not overwhelming either.
Nothing of the the kind. My comments have had absolutely nothing to do with how closely you follow Apple.
Merely pointing out that perhaps you could have been a bit more polite ... instead of using WTF (not once, but twice. I don't mention this because I am a prude, I was in the Navy for a time, I am well versed in crude language.) ... you could have just said, "Care to share a link?" Also, complaining that OP didn't prepare you better for the conversation ... well ...
It's not really up to other forum members to do your research for you ... if you are not inclined to spend at least a little time in self-education of your tools ... why does that task become the duty of others? You don't have to be a dedicated fanboy to be aware of your tools and the news about them. I usually only spend a few minutes on this task over morning coffee or lunch. It's not my whole life, just a few minutes out of the day.

Apple has now posted many of the 2015 World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) session videos including the Metal sessions. For those who have the interest, here is a link to the first of session videos that serves as a general intro to Metal.

Nothing wrong with not following tech news, or even Apple news. And nothing wrong with asking questions here. I hope people will lighten up. All should feel welcome. For users, all that matters is that "It Just Works" or at least how in the heck can I fix/do this?
My nephew who is a programmer and iOS developer is not up to speed with what is happening for Beta versions or what happened at WWDC. He was too busy doing other things, so what? He was glad to hear from me what is going on and will look into some things soon. He is especially interested in Xcode and Swift improvements.
The Beta 1 versions are buggy as all get out, and Apple has a lot of work to do on the APIs before the fall.
I like geeking out on underlying hardware/software, so I pay attention to tech news. I like what "I think" Metal will bring to Mac OS.
Enjoy the vids, lots of great info from the sessions. So many vids, so little time…
"Peace and Love from an old hippie"
Hope this helps, Greg
