Hi guys,
I would like to receive your advice concerning the following.
I currently have a Mac Mini (2,6Ghz i7, 16Gb, HD4000) and I've been doing a lot with it. It's obviously been painful sometimes, due to the lack of GPU.
I need to go mobile AND I'd like to have a decent GPU.
But I'm really on a budget, so I need to go 2nd hand. Therefore my question: I have found a late 2013 MacBook Pro (15 inches, 16GB, 2,3Ghz i7, GT 750M 2048MB) for a decent price (1200€ here in Europe).
My big question is: I'll loose 0,3Ghz of CPU, will this be compensated by the GPU ? Will it overall be faster ?
It's my job by the way
Thank you for your help!

Manoucho
I would not be concerned al all about the slight base processor speed difference. I think for overall day to day computer use, there won't be a noticeable difference.
Where you will see big improvements is when Motion and FCPX utilize the GPU. There I think you will see/feel significant speed improvements. Less Spinning Beach Balls.
While you don't give the year or model # of the Macs, this comparison by BareFeats may be what you are looking for… barefeats.com/macmin14.html
You can see the superior performance of the dedicated GPU.
There may be other factors like differences in the drives that will also affect performance.
Hope this helps, Greg

No human being could detect the performance difference of 0.3 GHz of CPU speed, that's so negligible. Remember, a 3 GHz CPU is not twice as fast as a 1.5 GHz CPU. Not how it works, don't worry about that slowing anything down.
