This may be a dumb question: If I have a clip that has a transition at beginning and end, and I apply some kind of effect i.e. Color corection, effect, etc, will that effect do the whole clip including whats "underneath" the beginning and end transition, without messing up the transition itself?
I ask because in FCP 7, applying some effect to a clip in the timeline that had transitions had unpredictable results.
Thanks.

Just like in 7 there are specific effects (color correction was never one of them) that don't play well with transitions. It is effects that use blend modes mostly, because a transition changes Opacity, which is part of the blend mode equation.
