Apply single color correction to multiple clips was created by julialaurieann
I have a 5 minute long video that I edited together from a mutlicam clip with 12 different camera angles. I then went through and color corrected each shot to account for differences in camera/lighting/surroundings etc. Now that each clip matches, I want to apply an overall "style" color correction - the same correction to every clip. I can't use the copy/paste effects feature because I don't want to paste over the "matching" correction. I don't want to create a compound clip from my edit and apply an overall color correction, because I want to maintain the ability to go back and make further adjustments to individual shots after the "style" is applied, should this be necessary. I know I can save a correction as a preset, and then go through and add that preset to every clip, but given that there are probably about 75 clips, I'd rather not have to do this. Are there any other ways to apply a color correction to multiple clips at once?
Thanks!
Thanks!

You want an adjustment layer. It is simply a blank Titles effect that runs along the top of all your clips. You'd apply a Title to do that, then delete all the text, then apply whatever color corrections and effects you want to that.
Many folks have free Adjustment Layer templates already done, also.

I know many people like adjustment layers for this task but I usually just make a compound clip and add the correction to that. It's easy to dive into the compound clip to make further adjustments to the clip inside. What do you not like about this method, Julia?

Both methods achieve the same result, adjustment layer vs compound clip. Depends on what else is in the Timeline and how you personally prefer to work. If there are other things you need to tweak that are not going to be in the CC, then use the adjustment layer. If it is a very simply Timeline, the CC works just fine. What is the need of that specific Timeline and how does the editor feel more comfortable?

I'm not by my computer to verify, but I accidentally did something you are asking using the copy paste. Because the color correction is an effect now and can be chained, you should be able to do your "stylized" correction on one clip then paste the effects attributes on the others. The paste adds a second color correction instead of overriding the color correction. For example I added a bit more blue to one clip and pasted that over all the other corrections I did, but accidentally had the first one I was copying from selected when I pasted. So it was Extra blue!

Great, thank you for your help everybody!
I didn't realize you could go back into the compound clip to make further adjustments as I hadn't worked with them much before, but now I see that you can!
This and the adjustment layer technique are exactly what I was looking for.
