Title effects browser was created by Neil P
Hi Guys

A simple question (i hope)

I need to add a title from the titles browser to my film and I like the blur effect. It's a black screen with white writing. Is there any way of changing it to a white background with black writing ?

Also... Can I add a logo to the effect ?

Also, are there any other cool plug in's, tutorials for other funky title effects or links to good tutorials ?

First question is the most important though.

thanks in advance

Neil

Apply a Generator 'white' to your projects storyline
drag title onto it, select in the Inspector 'black' as font colour....

Animate the direction blur effect on the logo if you want a similar effect on that layer.

Apply the direction blur to the logo.
At the beginning set the amount to a very high amount like 500 and keyframe the amount.
About one second later set the amount value to zero.
Near the end of the title keyframe the zero amount value again.
One second or so later set the amount value back to 500.

Thanks Tom,

I'm not sure that I'm that advanced though.

See below my plate as it is at the moment. To make it more interesting I know that I can add a cross disolve to it and apply the ken Burns effect, but what I'd really like to do is have the picture, swish in from the side (or from above) and have the text appear one line at a time.

I haven't got the technical knowledge at the moment though. Is there a good tutorial that I can watch to learn how to do this or I'd be really grateful if you can help (if easy to explain)

thanks in advance

Neil

I think that you'd benefit a lot from following the beginner's course at Izzy Video. It is free and very well done:

Hi Neal,
Several ways to add one line of text at a time and to add blurs etc…

Check out the "Custom" Title effect in the inspector. While it seems like a very bland basic do nothing Title effect, once you enter the Inspector pane you can do a lot of manipulation to the Text.
The Inspector pane is really where you fine tune most effects, so play around with it a lot, use the "reveal triangles" and play with the controls. Remember that skimming will show you what is changing as you play. You can also set In and Out points in the Timeline and "loop" playback (forward slash I think?) and watch changes in real time.

You can stack text effects on the timeline with varying amounts of duration and start and end points.

One question is do you have Motion? Motion will allow you more control to set parameters and then to "publish" to FCPX

If you have Motion, see if this tutorial by Steve Martin is helpful… www.rippletraining.com/free-videos/animated-bullet-builds/

You can create most of this within FCPX by simply stacking the text.

Ripple Training and MacBreak Studio offer some great tutorials.

Logo animation is also controlled in the Inspector. Find a Title effect you like as a starting point, drop in your logo and go from there.

Hope this helps, Greg
