Timestamp wrong on c100 clips

I just bought a Canon c100 mark ii and am having trouble with the timestamps on footage I'm importing. I've set the date/time on the camera itself, and when I view the clips on the camera, the times are correct, but when I go to import them into Final Cut 10.2, the date is correct but the time is off by about 8 hours. Not sure why this is. I've formatted the SD cards prior to importing. Never had this issue with importing footage from other cameras. Anybody had this issue before?

Verify time zone on your Mac, and if the camera has a setting for it, verify that. Very odd...

Yeah, that's not it. I've tried this on two different computers running both Final Cut 10.2 and 10.1. Having same issue with both computers. And its only with the SD cards from this particular camera. SD cards from my other Canon cameras have the correct timecode. It's very strange.

OK, swap SD cards between cameras. Then you'll know if it is the SD cards themselves, or the camera.

Probably the fact that you see the same thing on both macs just means that they are set to the same time zone. Which sends us back to Ben's suggestion to look at the time zone for the camera.

Time zone on the camera is correct. When I view the clips on the camera itself, the timestamp attached to each clip is correct. I've also tried swapping cards as suggested above, but the same problem exists so it's definitely not the cards or the computers. It's either camera or software related I think... quite the mystery.

I have exactly the same problem. The time stamp is 16 hours ahead for me. Have verified time zones on both my computers and also on the canon C100 mk2. Have reformatted all my SD cards. Have reset the camera to initial factory default state. The problem persists.

No such issue when I import Sony 7s mk2 files. When I open the MTS files from the AVCHD package directly, the time stamp on the MTS file is correct. The timestamp is also correct when viewed on the playback screen of the Canon.

When I import the mts file directly into Lightroom, the timestamp is again correct.

Wonder whether this is a fault with FCP?
Would appreciate any other similar experience.

After experimenting with the time zone setting, I found this solution.
Set the Canon timezone to GMT with GMT Time. The way to do this is to set the time zone to my local time zone (which is GMT +8 hours). Then set the correct local time. Finally, set the Canon time zone back to GMT; the result is that the local time will change to that of local GMT time.
Now clips taken with this setting will show the correct timestamp when imported in FCP-X.
Hope this helps others too.

Thank you.

I have noticed that this problem only happens when I'm using AVCHD. When I switched to .mp4 clips, the timestamp was correct.

Then it looks like Canon's AVCHD wrapper and/or index file does not inform FCP if someone uses a time zone other than GMT. If I am right, if someone is in a time zone of GMT +x hours, the time stamp error will be 2x where x can be negative.
I would be very interested to hear if this is true for others and if my solution above works for you too. Thanks in advance.
