Hi

I'm recently new to FCP and I've been looking on how to create a white background with a title and can't seem to find a solution that is current with FCPx. I read posts on compound clips, however I'm not sure how that works.. I keep getting a black background with a contrasted text once exported,

Use the generators to put a white background underneath the text. Compound clips aren't really necessary.

In this example, I have a 3D text clip on top of my video.
I added a Custom generator, from the "Solids" category, between the two.
I added a Shape Mask effect to the generator, and adjusted to only be behind my title.

Whalah! Magic! Well, maybe not...
