Please help, I'm unable to go above 100 Luma or Below 0 in latest FCP X

Hello,
Ever since the FCP X update, my FCP seems to automatically do a broadband safe effect on all my clips without me telling it to.
Meaning, it won't let me go above 100 luma or below 0 on the scopes. I want to create extra white or crushed black effects.
How do I reverse this? I'm new to editing...
Thank you for your help.

FCPX wouldn't automatically add any filters to your imported footage. To check this, select the clip and look in the video tab of the inspector to see if in fact the Broadcast Safe filter is there. If it is, and you did not add it, then maybe trashing FCPX preferences (by holding down CMD and Option when you start FCPX) will solve this. You can also click the filter in the inspector (if it is actually applied to the clip, and press delete to remove it).
If you don't see the broadcast safe filter in the inspector when you click on the clip, try adding the color effect to that clip. That will allow you to access the color board where you can adjust the exposure settings to your liking.
My suspicion is that whatever camera you're using might be clamping the whites and blacks to safe levels and if you hadn't applied a color effect (new in FCPX 10.2) then you don't have access to the color board and it's controls.

Thank you so much. I will try those tips.
It's now also "auto" correcting my audio when I drag it into my time line... and making it sound like chipmunk'ish..what the heck. But at least I was able to "see" it was done, so all I had to do was remove the "fix."
With the luma levels, there was nothing in the effects. I'll try the preference option.
Thanks again.

Did you try applying the color correction filter and then adjusting exposure as mentioned above? I have a feeling that this might be what you're after.

Have you added sharpening? It seems to limit the luma...

I suppose your problem is that you are not seeing the Color Correction in the Inspector as it used to be?
- Color Correction is now an effect, which is a great improvement, since it can be placed in any order in the effects pipeline.
Press Command-6 to add the Color effect (this is the same keyboard shortcut that opened the Color Board previously)
Then open the scopes and push the exposure up. It should happily go up until your clip is an eyesoring white...

Why do you want to go above 100 and below 0? That would cause loss of detail of white and blacks, and cause havoc with audio if you try and broadcast it...I try and say within 10% of maximum and minimum, this will prevent errors on transmission.

I believe the OP wants adjustments for effect and not intended for broadcast.
