FCPX to Logic problems
The problem is the timeline just gets completely screwed up with clips totally out of position.
I'm exporting an XML from FCPX and importing that in to Logic.
Is there some other workflow I totally missed that gets it right?

Before that try exporting another XML and make sure that "Audio" is selected in the dropdown first. Import that into Logic Pro and see if its better.

Question....
Perfect alignment based on roles.... so if I have two ambient sounds layered do they come in as separate tracks when using X2Pro even though they have the same role? It seems like they should but since you say alignment is by roles I thought I'd better ask!

Some audio 'tracks' that were trimmed in FCPX weren't trimmed and fully enabled in Logic, where others where fine.
Other clips we moved to the start of the sequence in Logic whereas others remained in sync,
Some clips just shifted by a few seconds.
Basically it was a mess.

That will enable two options though, either a complete mix down done within Logic, or a stem mix.
If you've done it right and you're really happy with the final product then I can't see why producing a final mix in Logic wouldn't work. Personally though, even when I am totally happy I do still seem to,change me mind at least a tiny bit the following day, so working with a couple of stems should provide a little bit of flexibility. That's how the big studios do it anyway.
If there is too much wrong, then obviously it needs to be remixed.

The LogicX to FCPX workflow really needs to be fixed. Problems have gone on, way too long. We should not have to purchase a separate app that is really designed for Logic output into ProTools to get proper functionality. Seriously, a 3rd party app that functions better than Apple's.
Would love to see 1 click round tripping and the use of "extensions" between the 2 programs for minor tweaks. After all, it is the Logic audio engine inside FCPX, so why the issues? With legacy FCP we had round tripping with Sound Track Pro, despite some issues.
Working on a musical right now and need the power of Logic, personally find audio in FCP too limited, and I am old school audio engineer. I need meters, faders, sub mixes, better control of effects, not to mention for actual audio recording.
Have used, and will again, the feedback page in both FCPX and LogicX.
Hope this helps, Greg

I do 90% of my video's audio mixing and sweeting in FCPX directly. But, being abel to take something from one to the other should simply be there, period.

AFAIK FCPX, LogicX, GarageBand and other programs all use the same underlying engine/Core Audio. It is not just limited to AUs. Nor is it intrinsic to only one program.
Apple does deprecate some features, and changes the UI, but each program is not using separate algorithms/programming for audio processing. All the effects, sound files, software instruments, share a common core.
There is a lot happening underneath upgrading/changing the foundation, but really, Apple needs to work on fixing the interactions between Apple apps.
If Apple with Billion$ in cash, large corps of software developers/ engineers, control of both software and hardware, can't do what a small company can do, something is wrong and needs attention.
Nor is this just an added feature(s) that should/could be left to 3rd parties, this is what Apple's ecosystem is supposed to be great at; "It Just Works".
This has gone on too long.
Hope this helps, Greg

I agree with X2Pro route. Not only does it give you the audio roles (and in the order you want them), but it allows you to dismiss unused audio tracks (e.g. from your audio field recorder/camera etc.) during import.. so you get exactly what you want in Logic without the need to search through the logic timeline to delete silent and unwanted tracks!! So its also a real time saver.

It would be nice if at least all the big problems were fixed, but I wouldn't be surprised if no one can see much of a difference.
