Pasting Audio Attributes..

Pasting Audio Attributes.. was created by Seanchas
Hi,
I've been using FCP X since day one and think I know it pretty well but I'm stumped by pasting audio attributes.... when I'm using a rifle and a radio I like to convert stereo audio to dual mono, expand audio, dip the rifle, boost the radio if necessary, collapse audio and put a loudness audio enhancement on the lot....that's fine but I can't seem to copy and paste this onto following clips in one go.. I need to expand, copy and past each track settings individually, collapse and copy and paste again..
I must be doing it wrong, is there an easier way??
(hope that makes sense!)

When you create a compound clip, and apply a filter or adjustments, you can only copy what is applied to the compound clip itself, not what is inside of it. Those are separate, individual entities. That is assuming that you're using a compound clip when you say "put a loudness audio enhancement on the lot." Is that correct?
Why exactly are you changing stereo to dual mono?

Thanks for getting back but no compound clips involved..... just normal ones.. it's hard to explain but when the clips come in stereo I convert to dual mono so I can work with L & R independently... in order to access this I have to expand the audio....when I collapse it I have a separate level for the whole lot, this is where I put my loudness effect... when I paste audio settings it only goes to the collapsed level but not the expanded tracks.... ( easier to show than explain!!)
Hopefully something simple..

Are these stereo files? I'm still not sure why you separate out into dual mono if it is a stereo file. Are different sounds on each channel? I think there is a key to the issue here.
Anyway, I'm trying this. I'm adjusting pan and volume on dual mono tracks, each is different. I collapse it, copy the clip. I select a different clip, Paste Attributes, I only see Volume and Pan, and paste. Now, nothing happens because that clip is still a stereo clip, and dual mono settings don't match a stereo pair. And pasting to another clip set up as dual mono, nothing happens.
Here's what I think is happening. Dual mono are two separate channels. You can't copy from two separate entities at one time, thus can't paste attributes. Perhaps in a future update (fill out the feedback form) we can copy/paste to dual mono channels together.
I can copy from one individual mono channel in one clip, then select an individual mono channel in another clip, and paste attributes works just fine.

Yes Ben, that's my problem... I have two mins so I want dual mono but I want to paste the audio settings for all channels from clip to clip....

Yep, feedback form time. Would be nice for audio attributes to include channel configuration. But for now, you'll have to go channel by channel, not clip by clip.

FCP X works like any other NLE in this respect: dual mono consists of two separate audio channels.
In other NLEs these channels are represented as individual tracks. If you want to copy effects from only one track of the dual mono clip you need to select that individual track and copy, then select all the other relevant tracks and paste.
In FCP X dual mono is represented as individual audio channels inside the audio clip container. If you want to copy effects from only one channel of the dual mono clip you need to select that individual channel and copy, then select all the other relevant channels and paste.
