Audio Bug in FCP 10.2 Can't hear clips in the browser. was created by John G
Has anyone seen this 'bug' in FCP 10.2?
We work a lot with voice-over recordings delivered to us in .WAV format by an audio house. Since upgrading to 10.2, most audio clips imported into a project don't play in the browser. They appear to work OK - you can see the waveforms and the meters bounce - but you can't hear anything.
Once the clips are dropped into the timeline they play fine.
The problem doesn't seem to happen with video clips containing embedded audio. Just with audio-only clips such as .WAVs.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Apple should be told a.s.a.p. as it's very annoying!

I did have this problem also and I wrote to Apple Feedback and they email me this and it fix my problem.
Open the application Audio Midi Setup (located in Applications : Utilities)
Select the Output Tab for the current output device
Select the Configure Speakers option
Select the Multichannel tab
Change the setting to Stereo
Hope it help.

John G.
Yes this is a weird issue.
Select your clip in the browser. Under the Audio tab in the inspector, change the clip setting to stereo if it is set to dual mono. Right there that should help. If you WANT dual mono then set the little pan mode pull down to Stereo/Left Right.
Playing with either of these methods will get you so you can play in the browser, and yes it is annoying!
If you have some time, read this:

Hi Jonathan
Thanks for the link to the other thread. I'm going to jump over there to follow this up.
BTW Apple sent me a link to a support document. The link is below in case you haven't alredy seen it. It's interesting but I don't really understand if Apple are saying this is a bug or a 'feature'...

It means those drivers have not been updated by the manufactuers, not a bug. That is both Apple and the manufacturers problem together.
