Exporting a project

Something a little weird happened whilst exporting a project. I cut down an edit from around 2.30 to 57secs there was no gap clip at the end of the project. I selected the project file in the Browser and exported. The results gave me a file that was the length of the original project not the 57secs.

I then went back to the storyline and exported from a range and it worked fine. Just thought I'd post to see if this has happened to others?

Yes I have seen this before. (not yet with 10.2)

I am not positive, but I think this happens if you had a gap previously at the end of the project. This gap could have been there becuse you created it, or it auto created (for example dragging a title or something on an upper track, past the end of the main track).

FCP dont seem to remember that the gap is no longer there, and then exports that invisible area as part of the project.
The only workaround for this I found is to do what you did, and select the range in and out, then export

After I edited the project down there was never a gap clip there or title or anything. What must of happened is that FCPX must of mistaken the new length of project with the new length in some way.

Yes thats possible as well..
Maybe trimming/deleting etc.. clips on the timeline, shortend the project.
FCP then does not remember the new shorter duration.

There must be something that is triggering it to not know the new duration.
In my case I remember there was always this gap at the end of the project..
Trimming the gap to the new project duration did not help, FCP still exported out the old, longer duration.
