The years old bug with XML export obviously is still there.
So several people send me an email asking how to fix it - I answer though it's not my job .
I always write "Use the feedback form" to let Apple know about the problem and some advice how to fix. Many of the people don't follow this "Use the feedback form" advice.
But one did yesterday.

Thanks...that actually worked. In fact I just now got an email response from Apple about my feedback. I guess I'm not the only one experiencing this....

You're absolutely right Andreas.

I have had several replies to things I've posted to Feedback and have sent additional information and even projects to Apple for their review. They will contact you if what you are informing them of warrants a direct reply.

On the other hand they may already be working on your issue and may not be able to respond directly because of time factors. I can understand that.

Or if you are the only one who has brought up a certain issue, chances are pretty good that your problem is specific to you and they don't have to resources to deal with that through that particular channel.

I have had 2 replies from Apple in regards feedback I posted, none of them related to requests I had posted but only to fix problems I was reporting.

I cannot remember the first issue, but the 2nd is very clear, it was the Pro Video Codecs 2.0.1 debacle, the advice from Apple was over a week late, and did not in any way address the question of the name of the "update fix", the advice was it has been fixed, re-boot device, re-install, re-boot, it should work...

So far no repeated request by the app store to re-install the update Pro Video Codec 2.0.1, so Tom Wlosky was right, for the wrong reason, the name as I sarcastically pointed out should have been renamed to Pro Video Codec 2.0.2

Do I trust the feedback page, no. Feedback only works if it is 2 way, one way is not feedback, it cannot be useful to development of software if there is no feedback back to the original poster of the feedback, asking for further explanation...

Maybe you misunderstood the word feedback

"information about reactions to a product, a person's performance of a task, etc., used as a basis for improvement."

It's different from feedback loop or Q&A

I understand the concept of feedback pages, in some cases a single or 1 way channel is sufficient, for example, making suggestions about a flavor for a breakfast cereal, 1 way..you to the manufacture is perfect.

With Apple and Final Cut Pro, it has to be 2 way, me to Apple, Apple Pro Dev to follow up asking for further explanations, that is true feedback.

What Apple has done is confused 2 English words, Feedback and Submission. What Apple should have labelled the page is not feedback, maybe have both, Feedback for Ideas only, and Fault Submission for error reporting..That when you hit send, this 2nd option does indeed auto reply, that way you at least get some sort of response.

How can a developer build on a suggestion without further comment from the original suggestion submission??

Feedback does not in any way imply a two way conversation.

I' ve been in the situation where I wonder if I should send feedback or just call about an issue. It is a two way conversation if you call, but unless you ask to be imediately connected to a second or third level support you waste a lot of time doing what a lot of us have ready tried i.e. Trash prefs, restart, reinstall new user account and so on.

Finally if you are on the phone you can still have Apple submit a report as well.

The trash pref, re-boot, if that fails, te-install in some cases fixes issues, yet has been reported on this forum, in the Pro Video Codecs 2.0.1 case, submitting feedback to Apple had zero response from Apple Inc, took them weeks to solve this issue and then not even got that right. Botched the renaming of the updated file...

One of the members reported that Apple said stop sending reports, he rebelled and submitted a further report, I did the same, no reply, nothing.

Then almost 10 days after all is sorted, I get a reply to the Pro Video Codecs 2.0.1, to which I replied to Apple, "Why no filename update?" silence...

Not everyone that uses FCP X is in the USA, I am not, so calling is not a viable option.

Fault reporting and enhancement requests are not the same, and should not be handled by the same person, people might label a fault as a request, English is not as universal as some may think it is..It is not the number one language here, it is a 3rd langauge..That opens up to errors of langauge understanding...

That is the moral of my oral... 2 issues, 2 forms, simple pimple!!

They certainly like to hear of critical errors.

Years of posting feedback, not one word from them, that's fine, next update or two most of the issues are fixed...

...then one day I discovered a memory leak that ultimately led to my computer freezing up. Since I was able to repeat the process and diagnose the problem down to its critical elements I was then able to give feedback to Apple about it.

A few days later I got an email from a member of one of their dev team to have me try a few mores tests and report back the results.

So yeah, they do listen and they do get back to you when it matters. :)
