Though the plugin is handy in some cases it is probably not what not most people need: a burned in source tc for review/approval for dailies.
A not very comfortable solution for that is to create proxy files for the sources. Then send all proxies to Compressor using a setting or droplet which creates a burned in TC.

Andreas,
Another way would be to create a compound clip of each clip in the browser, apply timecode generators within each compound clip and then edit each compound clip into a project. The source timecodes are retained and visible on export.

Edgar,
You are totally right.
But it is a quite cumbersome work, especially if you have a lot of clips.
And it's a tedious work to switch of the overlays once you don't need them anymore.
But this my personal opinion.

Yes, this entire process of displaying source tc is cumbersome either way. Would be nice to be able to do it easily right inside the app

Agreed. At least this solves the problem of client viewings. For remote viewings I suggest just bouncing thought Davinci Resolve. It can do what FCP X can't. That is add a timecode layer or source timecode to each clip in a sequence.

So how do I open the window back up after I close it? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Right click over the FCPX timecode window.
