Creating history....one edit at a time !
If you are talking about a single page of text on black (or some color), you can use the custom title in FCPX and type as much as you want on the page. Place it on top of a color generator or video if desired. Most standard titles in FCPX will allow this.

I work out the length of each line. Say for 1080 x 1920 I only want the text to be 1/3 the width of the screen. Otherwise the viewers head is flashing from left to right.
Once you have all your lines worked out ... place each line in it's own textbox. So for 15 lines then 15 text boxes. This way it's much more flexible and you can bring them onto the screen at different times. Nobody wants to see a whole block of text thrown up in one go. Too daunting. So you can arrange each line or paragraph to come on separately and chronologically.
Works for me ...

And..just so you know, this sounds like you are typing one continuous long string of text and expecting the title generator to wrap it for you. Either follow Grendel's suggestion, or you need to hit return to force a line break when you type. You can do this in the inspector, or simply click on the title in the timeline and then double click in the viewer. You'll be able to see what you are typing on the screen and can hit return wherever you want to start a new line. You can use the text formatting options also to set alignment, tracking, baseline, size, etc.

Creating a new title for every line is not very handy.
It's like going to a gelateria ordering a mixed ice cream with it's bowl in individual cones and then eating them all together in one hand
Typing in returns for each line and formatting each of the lines (if needed) is way more practical.
Ben's suggestion to use PDF also is a way to go. But keep in mind that not all apps crete a PDF with transparent background.
Another way is to use TextEdit. Create a new rich text document with the width of you project. Type and format your text there. Then copy all and paste into the text box in FCPX.
