Going between FCPX 1.1.4 and 10.2? was created by rrongman
I’m planning to update to 10.2 but I need to keep one of my machines on 10.1.4 since I can’t have Yosemite on this one due to older software that I still need.
Is there anyone who regulary goes between 10.2 and 10.1.4?
Is this possible at all?
Thanks

What Francois said, but if you keep separate libraries for 10.2 productions and 10.1.4 productions you can go back and forth. Just be careful you don't update the 10.1.4 library by accident.

Hi Tom,
could you please elaborate on this a little further? If I open a 10.1.4 library in the 10.2 version of FCPX must it not be upgraded to be able to work in?

I'll chime in..that is correct, once updated to 10.2, Libraries cannot be opened on older versions... However, If you duplicate the Library for 10.2, you can export fcpxml 1.4 (previous version) from 10.2 and import it into your 10.1.4 Library. 10.2 will also import fcpxml 1.4 from older versions, so using that method you could "share" things between systems. Just be aware the you may lose some things in translation. (make sure you choose Extended view when exporting xml from either system) I'd run a test from the old system to the new first.
Can't sleep? Try this: fcpxpert.net ;-)

Thanks for the input Plysat.
Hopefully I will be able to have the cuts, transitions, volumes and hopefully keywords using this method. I will have a look into this and see if I can get something workable out of it.
