Major problem with one project after 10.2 upgrade... was created by DmitriZigany
Hey!
After updating to FCPX 10.2 I have a serious issue with one of my projects. Of course it's the one that needs to go be finished now. As soon as I hit 'play' I get the beach ball of doom and have to force quit FCPX.
All the clips in the event play fine, I can skim through the timeline, but as soon as I try to play it, it crashes.
I have deleted all render files, proxies etc etc. I've trashed preferences... I made a new project and copied the content from the first to the new. Nothing helps.
Any suggestions?

I solved it! (thanks to the post about the Waves EQ).
It was a waves plug-in. That's the last time I'm using Waves plug-ins in FCPX, they just seem very problematic in FCPX...

NEVER update mid-project. Super dangerous thing to do.

I was anticipating that comment
I'm always mid some project. I would be on Mac OS 7 and a Performa 475 if I didn't upgrade mid project

There is a "between projects" time...

I'm always overlapping projects. Can't remember when I didn't have something that at least should have been done. There are more or less important/critical projects though. This one was a music video for friends (they still pay though but very little) so not the end of the world.

Same here. There's always something that has at least been started. I find it hard to have a "between projects", really. You know those fun projects that you just push forward when you find the time, Ben? Always something like that left but as Dmitri said, those things are less important.

The facilities I've worked with have always found ways to make in-between update times.

Yeah I too always have multiple projects going on. I never have a point where something isn't being worked on. I think the best advice would be "Never do a major upgrade (ie: from 10.1.x to 10.2.x) in the middle of a big project."
This made me laugh.I would be on Mac OS 7 and a Performa 475 if I didn't upgrade mid project

I encountered this problem too, the simple technique which has been suggested in the past on this forum with troublesome projects was to copy all the contents from the timeline to a new project and that as usual fixed the problem.
