Syncing sound and picture. was created by Silversurfer
Hi,
I have to edit 8 music videos and it is the first time I do so in FCP X. Any suggestions on the best way to sync music and picture? I have a lot of footage of a woman singing. Her mouth movements has to be in sync with a music track. All suggestions are welcome. I come from FCP 7 and are new in the workflow in FCP X. In FCP X you don't work in tracks, which still is new to me.
Regards,

If the camera recording has audio you should be able to use the sync clips function in the menus.

First off, was the audio and video recorded at the same time, making it possble to sync? Then as Tom says.

Specifically, you have a boom box playing the CD of the song. The band, singers, whoever lip sync to it, dance, etc. All cameras shooting this should be recording sound. The boom box should be loud enough for all cameras to pick it up clearly. Then in post, the CD and all video clips have the exact same audio, in sync, and FCPX can sync by that audio very quickly and easily.

If you find it a huge issue to get working, hopefully you don't, but there are other tools out there that may be able to help you out.

Hi Tom, thanks for the Quick respons. Yes their are audio on the video. The Music from a gethoblaster. So I now have tried to sync the videotrack with the musictrack using the syncronize clip in the clipmenu, but it won't highlight. How do you highlight the syncronize clips function? I have selected the clips which I want to syncronize in the timeline, but it FCP X won't let me use the syncronize clips function.

Select your video clips, and your master audio file, all at one time in the Browser (cmd-click).
Right-click any of them, and select "New Multicam Clip".
For a music video, you want mutlcam, not sync.

Whether you are creating sync clips, one picture with sound, or multicam clips, multiple video and audio, you select the items in the browser, where you make the sync or multicam clips.
