Hello. I'm working in a local TV Station in a small city in México. Were are about to switch to HD for broadcast. Soy they are asking me to deliver a video with 4 Channels. Now, i know how to export a multichannel video using roles in FCPX.

The main problem here, is that it appears that the technicians doesn't know much about the Broadcast delivery of HD Media (i don't know that much either).

I told them that i can export a multichannel video with one channel for the Voice Over, another channel for the interview, another channel for the Nat Sound, and another for the Music (if needed). I have read some posts about the HD Delivery, but i don't know if exporting a file with those specs is indeed what they need.

So, they told me that they just required a file with 4 channels, because with that, the people who have their tv's set in french, english or spanish will be able to listen the audio of our content. They are confused, because they think that if i export a multichannel in the way that i describe before, the people will only listen to one thing, only the interview, or only the nat sound for example. according to the channel they have set in their tv's

Basically they are asking to have the same track of audio in the 4 channels

So far, i just can think in export one file without the multichannel, then re imported in FCPX, and duplicate the audio 4 times, then use roles to export a multichannel file with the same audio in the 4 channels. But this will add an extra step in my workflow.
I don't know too much about this, but i believe it has to be another way to do this.

Note: we are working with MXF Files coming from a Sony XDCAM

Anything that you could tell me about this, will absolutely help me.

You should get a spec sheet from the broadcaster to find out exactly what each channel is supposed to be. I t could be Channel 1 - Spanish mono mix, Channel 2 - English Mono mix, Channel 3 - French, Channel 4 - Descriptive Spanish.

I have ask for the specs in several times. But they just keep saying "just give us 4 channels of audio". I have replied saying that that's a very vague thing to ask. Since i have seen some of the specs in the UK for example, where they ask the Final Mix to be in Channel 1 L, Final Mix in channel 2 R, and M&E in the 3 and 4 channel.

The Station where i work i mostly a News Station. So i thought it would be better to have Interview and Voice Over in one channel, Nat sound in another, and Music and Effects in another channel. In order to can re use the footage without the interview, V.O or music overlapping the Nat Sound.

All of our videos are in spanish, so we don't have any other language mixes. They just want that the audience hear the Spanish mix, no matter if they have their TV's set to the french or english channel of audio.
