Can not keyframe titles in 10.2? was created by dkag7
Unless I got some strange setting going on, how to keyframe a title?
2D or 3D
Load any title in the timeline
In the inspector click on the text heading.
Scroll below to any of the settings under face, drop shadow etc..
1. I am having trouble grabbing the down arrow where you would 'reset parameter' because the scroll bar of the inspector gets in the way (Never had this issue before)
2. All keyframe parameters are greyed out.
Am I missing something?
thanks
kurt

No, you're not. There is no key framing in the Text inspector.
In General system preferences set scroll bars to always. You really have for FCP because it uses the whole screen edge to edge. It means you have scroll bars everywhere, which I dislike, but there it is.

Thanks for the scroll bar tip, odd i am seeing this now. Maybe the inspectors image positions changes slightly.
At first I was thinking something general like this for the no keyframe issue as well.. but cant find anything.

So far the only work around for this seems to be to take the title into motion and use any parameters in the text field, and put them into the title field to allow keyframes.
When I was doing this, it also seems you can no longer rename published parameters in motion.

I can double-click on a published parameter in Motion and rename it like always. Not sure what's happening in your case.

If I dbl click it turns blue, but I can not type in a new name.
I tried this on a default fcp title, not a custom one.. (open a copy in motion)
I published the opacity parameter in one of the titles in the fcp build in/ build out area.

I can rename on a default 3d title i am working on (altering)
So I am not sure what was going on..
on a bit different subject..
The 3d titles rotation and postion is controlled via fcpx OSC.
But I think this is different somehow than before.
These controls, in fcpx, are within the text area of the title (where there is no keyframing)
So In motion I published these parameters and they go in the 'Title' area inside FCPX once published, but the actual OSC will switch you over to the 'text' area inside FCP (the regular controls are located back in the 'title' area..
Not sure yet how this works..
At some points they seem separate controls, other times they seem to link..?

Yes, publishing the Position and Rotation parameters of the Title layer in Motion gives you camera like movements you can keyframe. The OSC are "camera" movements, not title position movements, and not yet keyframable. Two different sets of parameters.

Helpful discussion. I was trying to keyframe a 3D title last night with no success. I'll try the Motion route.

When making OSC in motion before, I dont remember this new OSC look that is being used in the 3d titles. Maybe its new?
Anyway, its odd that the OSC in motion controls the same parameters that you need to publish to FCP. (you can see the numbers change in motion as you use the OSC) But when you publish these same parameters to FCP these new parameters go in the 'title' area.. The OSC however seems to be needed in the 'text' area.
Why there is no keyframing as before with 2D titles, in the 'text' area of the title in FCP is another story... Dont seem right.. but maybe this is the new behavior because of the new 3D OSC..?
