Hi there,

As the title suggests i am trying to work out how to get a video of my mouth, and then place just my mouth onto a video of my son, replacing his mouth with my mouth, as i rap to various songs but on the body of a baby! Does that all make sense?

I was just wondering if there are any videos out there that explain how to do it?

Thanks in advance

Nick

It is known in pop culture now as the Annoying Orange Effect.
Super easy. Place the clip of you on top of the baby clip.
Mask out your mouth, feather a bit, done.

See if this is any help, this is doing it in Motion, but it is basically the same in FCPX.

Like I said, stack the two clips with you on top.
In the effects browser, go to the search field at the bottom, type in Mask. You'll want the Shape Mask.
Put that on the clip of you, adjust so it shows only your mouth.
Feather a bit.
Done.

Amazing i will try this later! Do things become more difficult if my son (the target for the mouth!) is moving around? Or are the principles the same?

That's "tracking", and it can be done in Motion, or in FCPX with TrackX/SliceX.
Or you manually keyframe the Position X & Y, as maybe the Rotation parameters, every few frames as needed.
