adding .scc files to a MXF file was created by Horne
Hello
My name is Mitch and I do a TV show called ScubaNation (ScubaNation.com) on a Fox Sport network.
My network has moved to electronic upload of the TV shows that I host and edit. I use the latest versions of FCPX and Compressor.
I can export the show to the required MXF format 720p 59.94 50 and I can get my show captioned with a delivered .SCC file.
What I can NOT figure out how to COMBINE the .scc file into the final MXF file that I need to upload to network.
Through my research, some have told me about MacCaption. Is this the only option?
Thanks!
Mitch

I've tried adding through Compressor but I am not having any luck with MXF. I can all day with the Quicktime formats. I test by viewing in Quicktime 7 turing on captions. But when I view the MXF, 'turn on captions' is greyed out, so I am assuming that the caption info is not there.
Thanks again!

If you are successful in producing a quicktime master with compressor , did you try just converting this quicktime with scc already integrated into MXF in a second operation ?

I did. but I am still not seeing the captions.
The only way I know to check if the captions are there is by playing the MXF in Quicktime 7. Wen I do 'Turn on Captions' is greyed out.
I can't believe Im the only one that needs to do this. How does the CC companies do it? Is Mac Captions the only way?

Quicktime will not display captions on MXF. I do a lot of captioning on various formats. including a series for Fox Sports.
Telestream has come out with a new app that will playback and show captions and a lot of metadata as well.
its called Switch Pro.

FYI I went to PP. Which will marry the .scc to the MXF. I've done it several times already. Stinks I have to do my editing in FCPX, export the MXF and then I open that with PP and add the .scc. when will FCPX do this?
