Still in love with FCPX, would like to invest in a VFX package for creating CGI characters and so on.
There seem to be quite a few alternatives. What's your recommendation for someone who enjoys FCPX workflow and product momentum?

3D modeling in general, Blender, free, but a learning curve.
More serious 3D modeling and animation, Modo, expensive, but has the tools and GUI to get heavy.
Characters, Manga Studio is a good start for cartoon work.
3D characters, I'd start with the free Daz 3D.
Haven't seen much of Poser around lately, not sure if it is still a viable option today. When I worked with it years ago, it was very difficult to learn, and not so easy to use, but very popular.
To get that stuff into FCPX/Motion, look at the mObject plugin. Although you can do animations and such before bringing it into FCPX/Motion, also.
Warning, do not expect the ease and flow of FCPX in the 3D world. That's a very complex, sophisticated world, and easy is not a word that exists there. Not like you're used to in FCPX.
