Can't seem to export/share anymore! Need help! was created by delirium trigger
I have been using Final Cut Pro since Final Cut Pro 7. I've used Final Cut Pro X with no problems what so ever... Until today. I always keep background rendering off, and that's never been a problem.
Well, I go to share my project now, rather it be a master or an "apple device 1080p" It really doesn't matter which one and I get an error. It comes up as Render -50 error.
Here is what's in the project if that helps you determine what's going on. It's a 30FPS timeline. It has a Sony A7R, A go Pro hero 2, and a Go Pro hero 3. I created optimized media witch all three. It's never done this before. The Audio, is my voice which I recorded in Logic Pro X, mixed and mastered it, and then imported it to the Final Cut Pro X project.
I just exported a video last night and had no problems. This is the first time it's ever happened. I'm making sure I'm clicking on the project.
I have dumped all render files as some suggested in articles I read on the internet, so it's not that.
It's exact words, "The share operation has failed. I click details and it says video rendering error -50.
I am on version 10.1.4

Also, check your drive space. If this is a long project you need sufficient drive space, both on your system drive to store the temporary cache file and on your destination drive to store the exported movie.

This happened to me once when I was trying to export to an external drive that appeared to be formatted as FAT32.
FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit.
Unfortunately I couldn't format the drive to HFS or EXFAT because the drive wasn't mine.
They gave me another (empty) EXFAT formatted drive.
That solved the problem.

It took a long time, I assumed I wouldn't figure it out, so I posted this. However, I figured it out. I'm not sure how this works because it hasn't been an issue before. I will let you know what happened:
I downloaded the Go Pro intro bumper like you see on their commercials. It also puts it on videos on the Go Pro Video editing app called Go Pro Studio. Well, I did not download it officially from GoPro. I seen a YouTube video with it and grabbed the clip off of YouTube. Since the video has a lot of GoPro I wanted this.
I also put intro/bumpers to other companies. However, the other companies didn't matter, but when I deleted the GoPro Intro bumper, it exported like normal. Apparently they write something in their videos that causes it to do that. The other companies I got off of YouTube as well and they didn't do that.
So, I had to change to just put a photo of the GoPro Logo at the start and put my own sound affect. I don't know how they integrated something that made that possible. People have it on YouTube.
To the other responses, I have lots of hard drive space, I have a very nice Home Studio for music so, I have so many Terabytes it will take decades for me to probably use them all.
Another question, as I am a music guy, trying to now figure out video more; I turned background rendering off, however, it does the render on export correct? If I render before export does it render again at export?
I don't ever change back to normal media, I export optimized media. That is best correct?

Rendering is done to enhance playback performance on your timeline. Exporting is done to create a video file from your timeline. When you export an un-rendered timeline this will not render your timeline, it will just create the video file.
Wether you export an un-rendered timeline or you wether render your timeline first and then you export the timeline, this will not have any influence at all on the quality of your exported file.
Exporting a rendered timeline will be faster than exporting an un-rendered timeline. But when you add the time it takes to render the timeline to the time it takes to export the rendered timeline, just exporting an un-rendered timeline will in most cases be faster.
If you have optimized your footage FCP X will use your optimized media to export from. If you haven't optimized your footage FCP X will use your original media to export from.

Also, since my Mac is powerful enough to play everything in real time, that means I never need to render correct?
