Best Color Correction Practices for FCPX

Hi folks, just wanted to get people's take on their favourite CC software for FCPX. I'm on Mavericks still so I can't try Color Finale until I update (but I'm in the middle of a huge project). I've been trying the latest Magic Bullet Suite demo, and while Colorista looks amazing, I can't adjust any of the parameters without each movement taking several seconds to catch up. It makes smoothly scrubbing through the hues etc impossible (though MBL does seem to be running smoother than before).

I'm on a Mac Pro trash can, 32GB RAM, D700, and I'm wondering when if I will ever be able to use these kinds of programs in real-time! (not to mention trying to use Neat video and watching my machine crawl to a halt...)

Any tips on your method of choice beyond the colour sliders in FCPX would be appreciated!

You should be getting better response from Colorista III than this on a nMP. What type of media or other plug-ins being applied? Maybe it's a Mavericks issue, but what you describe is worse than I'm getting on a 2009 MP with a 5870 card and 28GB of RAM (with Yosemite).

In any case, I would look at Hawaiki Color (color wheels), Hawaiki AutoGrade (sliders) or Lawn Road Color Precision (sliders).

Thanks for the reply Oliver! I'll check out those programs for sure. I was surprised by the colorista performance too. I can't find a lot of evidence that people are using it on fcpx yet, but it looks like a great program. Might be time to update!
