I have been searching online for hours so I apologize if this has been answered. I just cannot find the answer.

I just upgraded from the original FCPX to 10.1.3...

I am trying to export a project. Share is not greyed out, but the options within share are greyed out.

All my other projects do not have this problem. Options under share are selectable with other projects.

I have tried many many suggestions, including someones link they posted with 20 some-odd suggestions for export problems.

I have no missing clips. I can open all of them and play them. I have created a new project and inserted portions of the original clips, making a 30 sec project and instantly the share options are greyed out. If I delete these clips and insert some older ones from older projects, export options are not greyed out.

All of these new clips are are being stored in the same library as everything else.

Help please :)

Hi Chuck,

So you say that only some clips in this Library cause share issues when you add them to a new project, while others don't cause any issues at all?

Select one of the problem clips in the Clip Browser, R-click the clip and choose Transcode Media. The transcode Media window will pop up. In this window select Create Optimized Media and leave Create Proxy Media unselected. Then press OK.

The clip will be transcoded, wait until this process is done (you will see the small counter under the Viewer go from zero to 100).

Then create a new Project, drop only this clip onto the timeline and press the Share button. Do you get all the Share options now?

Thanks for the reply Ronny.

I gave that a try.

I get this message.

"Camera clips cannot be processed. You must import/reimport these first in order to process."

I did a quick search online about this message and it seems everything that comes up suggests I can "relink" the files -- suggesting they are not all there. The funny thing is I don't have any weird icons showing damaged/missing media and the clips play fine in their entirety.

Appreciate your time.

Okay, I see what you mean.

Go to one of the problematic clips in your clip browser. Make a screenshot from the clip in the clip browser and post it here. Do you see a white camera icon on that clip?

Yeah I do see a white camera icon on those clips. I am ashamed to say I don't know what that means. Having used FCPX for a few years now, but only lightly, I have not run into this.

Okay, now we know what's causing your issue.

A white camera icon on a clip means that the media has not been properly imported and the clip in the browser is still referencing the media on the camera or on the card folder that is somewhere on your drives.

You can play the clips, which means that the media for these clips are available. So the only thing you need to do is select the clips that show a camera icon and then choose File > Import > Re-import from Camera/Archive.

FCP X will start re-importing the clips. Just wait until the re-importing is completely finished. When it's done none of the clips in your browser will show any camera icons anymore. Then you will be able to export your project.

Thanks Ronny. Really simple and wish I could have realized that a lot earlier. Appreciate your help so much.
