Smart Search with Projects.

i got a quick question re smart search. i am not able to create a smart search for "projects" + "text". this combination always gives me 0 results.
if i use only "text" then it works, if i use only "type" then it works as well, but its not precise enough. the goal is to create a smart filter to give me certain projects with a certain name range. if i do a combo of "text" and "type", with other type type, it works fine, for ex." compound clip with a certain name range."
is this a bug?

Hi Liron,

I just did some tests with these same search filters and you are correct: there are some inconsistencies. Will do some further testing but I agree something is not working correctly with these combinations. Please report this issue to Apple using the Feedback page.

BTW: I had a look at your website and I like what you are doing.

That's odd, works for me just fine. Bug...

Yep I think it's a bug. This is the test I have done:

Create 3 Projects (1015 Test, 1016 Test, 1017 Test), then create a Smart Collection filtering by Type > Project and Text. The Project filter with no text entered correctly finds the 3 Projects:



When I enter "1015" in the Text field the filter only shows the 1015 Test project, which is again correct:



However when I enter "1016" in the text field the filter does not find the 1016 Test project:



Same issue when I enter "2017":



And oddly enough the filter only finds the 1015 Test project when I enter "Test" in the Text field, although this word is included in every project I have created:



So yes, there is something weird with these search criteria. On to the feedback page.

Okay, correction.

The 2016 Test and 2017 Test projects did not have any media in them. So I thought this may be the culprit. After I added a clip in each of these projects the Smart Collection filter works as expected.

I'm pretty sure I tested with empty projects, too, and it worked fine. I'll have to go retry that, make sure I follow your steps. That's weird.

thanks for both the info and kind words, working on a new reel as we speak, too busy to do it.
the search filter is frustrating, what i did now, is just add a common term to name the project: for ex. "ver" then just do a simple text search, and not add the TYPE boolean. its a shame. ill send to apple.

yeah weird, i left the editor paper instructions on how i wanted him to structure the event by sorting projects of a certain scene in a smart search, and he came back to saying, it didn't work...
i didn't believe it either, since i thought that something so common would have surfaced before.

I've found that "empty" projects (no media) don't show up in smart searches, or any searches for that matter. Bug? I dunno, as it's not technically a project until there's media in it right? I usually just cut a bit of media in when i create a project...

got it. you are amazing. its the empty project that does not show up!
he did prepare the even with empty projects as templates!
