I am working on a video for our youth program at church. It is about 1:15 long. I used a main center camera in the back of the room that is also my main audio that is coming into the camera off of the sound board. I also have 2 cameras that are directly in front of the stage on the left and right sides. I have them into my library and I have joined them into multicam clip. My problem is when I got that done my file size was 32Gb. After I edited my video with cuts, etc. it is now over 500Gb. What am I doing wrong? Should I start over using specific steps?
I am starting to get frustrated as I had to move the library off of my drive and onto a USB3.0 drive but things are sluggish.

Are you using the default preferences to optimize multicam or the default auto render you will quickly build up a ton of very large files. If you're keeping your media in your library, the library will be huge.

I thought that the only change that I made when I imported my videos was the name of each clip. Is it best to start over and make sure that it is not optimized?

No. First switch off the two preferences and then in File menu with library selected use Delete Generated Files.

Where will I find the two preferences to uncheck?

Playback preferences. There aren't that many in FCP.

I unchecked Create Optimized Media for Multicam Clips under playback and deleted generated optimized files and that so far has reduced it down to about 228Gb, but seems to be increasing. FCP is still working on it.

Uncheck auto render. Delete render files. You have mixed media in the multiple cam clip. It's going to want to keep rendering that.

Is auto render the same as background render?
I unchecked that and deleted generated files again and that got it down to 75Gb.
IT is definitely running better now. Thanks
