Constraining transform parameters using onscreen controls

So when I'm moving a clip or an image, is there a way to constrain that movement using the onscreen controls? The modifier keys don't seem to work they do with other applications. Didn't see it mentioned in the Help document (but its entirely possible that I just overlooked it.)
My work around has been to use the numerical coordinates, but I don't find them to work quite as fast as the OSC.

Yeah, I mess the Nudge keyboard shortcuts. They're not back yet. Fill out the feedback page and let Apple know you want them. You can type in numbers, or click and drag up/down on the numerical fields for the X/Y positions, too.
