Hi, I have a newbie question in regards to using FCPX. Is all of the original media (video, pictures, etc.) maintained or is it lost as you're editing? In other words, do you lose your original media if it's not saved on a seperate hard drive? Thanks, Ray

Your media is always saved. It's either inside the library or in a separate location.

Thanks for the reply..... So once your original media is imported into your library it will be maintained original and will not be manipliated due to editing? With that being said, where will the edited media be stored? I'm just curious for a quick answer.... I am about to begin to look at some videos by MacBreak Studios and others for more in depth answers. Thanks for your help, I sincerely appreciate it. Ray

When you edit you work in a project, which is simply an instruction set on what media to playback and what to do to it. Nothing is ever done to the original media. When you share your project and export it as a media file your project instructions are baked into the exported file, all the sound changes, color correction, effects, transitions, titles, and of course your editorial decisions are all made into a single media file. The originals are never touched.
