I've been having this problem for a few weeks now where the time in the display suddenly goes negative when I start playback. When I move the cursor back on the timeline it resets, but again goes negative when I try to play it.
It has happened in all types of project, short or long, some with very few effects. The only way to reset it is to reboot the computer; simply restarting FCPX doesn't work. It seems to happen randomly and I can't pin it down to any particular plug-in or operation. I'll just be working normally, press the spacebar and suddenly I'm at -23 hours!
I think I've tried most common troubleshooting fixes, trashing prefs, etc. but haven't yet tried reinstalling FCPX. Before I do that I was just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?
All software are the latest versions (OS X, FCPX) and I'm running on a MacBook Pro (mid 2012) with 16GB RAM and editing off external TB1 and USB3 discs.

And if the exorcist doesn't help:
- Completely remove FCP X from your system (use the free FCSRemover or a similar app to do this)
- Re-install FCP X from the App Store and see if this solves the issue.

I'll just see if I can finish this current little project and give that a go, thanks.
(Then I'll call the exorcist! Is that the Twilight Zone I hear playing?!)

Since it's lunchtime here I though I'd just download it over that time. So removed FCP and went to app store. Got strange status_code_error message when I tried to sign in, then found this huge thread:

Now, where is that exorcist's number..........?
