I have a window that has miraculously opened on it own, see the image attached...It looks like an Equaliser thing for audio...I cannot, for the life of me, hide it...grrr...looked everywhere

That's strange. Does it only show up in FCPX? If so have you tried shutting FCPX down & restarting?

It looks like you've made the audio meters very wide. Grab the left edge of the meter pane and drag it right.

Yes. Got that. But even if I try to slide it closed it stays open about 1cm.

To hide it you have to click on the audio meter next the timecode at the center of the FCPX screen.

Shift-Cmd-8 hides it if you don't want any meters.

GUI bug, fill out feedback form for sure. That is not supposed to look like that, overlapping and all.

OK, on second look, it isn't overlapping, I just wasn't wearing my glasses last night. Yeah, that's just a normal audio meter made wide. What Ronny said.
