Adding an angle in the angle editor

When you add an angle in the angle editor and drag a clip into the open lane, shouldn't the clip be free so that you can adjust its position in the lane? This is not happening for me. Am I missing something? Thanks very much.

You mean like float it left and right? I can. What exactly are you getting?

Got the position tool active? P?

When I drop clip into the lane, it snaps to the head and I can't drag it.

The Position is active by default. I toggled it off and on, but no effect.

That is wacky, Tom! I'm trying and there's no snapping. Using the P tool, Snapping turned on, turned off, I get free floating clip. Could it have to do with the duration of the Multicam itself being shorter than the clip you're dropping in? That is really odd, buddy! I'm going to try some different footage later and check again.

Did you close that Multicam and open it again? Re-launch FCPX? Trash prefs?

Thanks Ben. Something is definitely screwy. I've not seen it before.

I can move clips in each angle of a multicam clip, left and right, using the mouse..I have no problems.

Macbook Pro retina 8GB RAM
FCP X 10.1.4 [waiting not so silently for 10.1.x... update!!]

EDIT: Snapping works, nudge left right works, I have zero issues with adding angles, clip longer than the original works, I have to use the Position P key to relocate clips within an angle.

You've got my curiosity up Tom. I'm banging away on two Macs, one is pure beta stuff from various vendors, including OS X, and even that one won't do this. What the hell is going on? I'm obsessed now...

I hadn't see it before, but I seen it reported on this forum before I think or maybe ASC. The media is all 1080, some p, some i, some H.264, one HDV. (Boy does that HDV look sucky these days.) Can't see why it happens. Fortunately the app can sync it and shift the clips into place, but no manual control.

For no reason that I can discern, except it's a different event in the same library, it now started to function as expected. Very weird.

Hi Tom,

I recently had something similar to this happen, it was very random, then I was able to fiddle by going back into a project, then into the multicam clip and it just started to work for some reason. No idea why.

It was frustrating to be sure.
