If you go into the FCPX application menu, to Commands, to Customize. You can use the top right search field to find what commands you can map. There is no built-in "adjustment layer" command in FCPX, so you can't map a keyboard shortcut to it. Control-T is the Basic Title, and since that is a built-in effect, you can't change it, only make a copy to open in Motion. Thus, that copy gets a different name, and goes into your Motion Templates folder. The built-in titles are not in the Motion Templates folder.

Unlike with Transitions, there is no "Make Default" option for titles. So no, you cannot assign the Default Title (CTRL+T) shortcut to an Adjustment Layer. Unless you dive into the belly of the FCP X application bundle to force this change. But that's not something I ever would advise.

You can submit a feature request to be able to change the Default Title, just like we can do with Transitions.

eugesas,

Since iMovie and Final Cut Pro were combined, the Basic Title and Basic Lower Third templates moved.

If you open them from their following locations in Motion, make changes, save them elsewhere and then use the Finder to replace them in Final Cut, your changed titles will be the new defaults:

Final Cut Pro.app ▸ Contents ▸ PlugIns ▸ MediaProviders ▸ MotionEffect.fxp ▸ Contents ▸ Resources ▸ PETemplates ▸ Titles ▸ Bumper/Opener ▸ Basic Title

Final Cut Pro.app ▸ Contents ▸ PlugIns ▸ MediaProviders ▸ MotionEffect.fxp ▸ Contents ▸ Resources ▸ PETemplates ▸ Titles ▸ Lower Thirds ▸ Basic Lower Third

Maybe I was doing something wrong before, and my brain burnt out. Thanks.
