Hi guys,

I have a timeline with an R3D clip on it. The clip has been synced with Audio (withing FCPX) and has some variable retiming in it.

I need to send that clip to a VFX designer. He has asked me for the original R3D file, but also an EDL or the timecodes. (I think he will work in Nuke).

I am not too sure what to give him. Even the timecodes are not right since the clip has been synced with audio.

Thank you!!!!

PS: I do owe ClipExporter, if it can help. But he needs to work with the R3D file and not an 4444 export.

Hi! I'll send the original .R3D file, the EDL and a reference quicktime movie so the VFX Artist can copy the retimings to match your edit (and obviously, tell him the video has retimings).

Gracias!

For the EDL, would you use EDL-X then ?

Oh! Your problem was with the EDL? I thought it was the retimings.
Ask the VFX Artist if Nuke imports .FCPXML. If you don't want to buy EDL-X, I usually create a new project with only the clips I need for the EDL, export a .FCPXML, import it in DaVinci and export the EDL from there (for free). I don't use this workflow very often, but it worked the few times I needed it.

(De nada!)

My problem was the combination of all.

That's a great tip Matias! Thanks.
