FCPX struggling with large library

Brill thanks! So far so good with the new Raid. It seems to be editing nicely so I'll see how it goes for the moment. I noticed that my RAM never had usage beyond about 5.5GB in the Activity Monitor. Thanks so much again for all your help.

Large library or many events makes fcpx very slow, it has bad memory management, when loading thousands of clips you have to wait!
And dpx will use endless of memory in these circumstances:
1. Timeline with many items , about 1600 or more, when you work on it 2 hours, 64gB will totally be used. Zooming timeline is sluggish!
2. Many clips in the bin, loading will be slow, and lots of ram will be used before you start working.

Apple should solve this.

Thanks. That's good to know. So far I've not seen my RAM go up beyond about 5.5GB after a days work and I'm still working off at old slow e-SATA striped g-RAID. If it starts to get bad then I'll upgrade to a Thunderbolt RAID.
