Hi,

Imagine that I want the audio of one clip go over the next clip. I have to Detach the audio right? Then drag the extension of the audio clip over the next clip...etc.
But now the audio is not connected to "it's" video right? (things can start to get out of sync if one is not careful...)

Is the a way to re-Atach the audio to it's video???

Thanks
joni

You don't have to detach the audio to overlap it and make a split edit. Simply expand the audio and drag it out. Then you can collapse the audio to get back the timeline space.

By making a compound clip, but if the audio is overlapping that can be awkward.

Hi Joni,
And then there is also this handy way to do cross fades. Once expanded you can move the audio edits.

Hope this helps, Greg

You could "reattach" the audio by replacing the clip with the original. It's quick if you do it through keyboard shortcuts:
- copy the attributes of the clip with the detached audio (command C)
- position playhead at the start of the clip (up or down arrow)
- reveal it in browser (shift F)
- overwrite edit (D)
- paste attributes (shift command V)

Don't forget you can just put the whole clip below the Primary Storyline. No need to ever Break Apart really.

this is obviously a great work around.
but it would be nice to be able to right-click the clip and chose something like "replace from browser"...
thank you
