Different use for Re-timing tool in FCP X... was created by Jonathan Levin
Hi all.
I know that there is other software out there that can do this, but FCP X does it great!
I am a moderately OK jazz guitarist, and back in the day to learn a particular part of a tune, I'd use a turntable and try and slow things down so that my brain could comprehend.
I realized that the re-timing tool could do the same thing if I import a song that I am working on, but I guess what surprised me most is that the pitch of the song remains un-altered, which means I can actually play right along and in key! I can then export the tune to itunes, put on my ipod, iphone whatever to learn and play along.
Not really about video editing, but really cool!

Yes, LPX can do this also, and analyze the audio file and give you the sheet music, too. Most audio software has been able to slow audio down and keep the pitch intact for a long time. Very useful to us musicians and voice talent.
