New to FCP questions about transitions.

Ok no I'm new to FCP but not editing. I'm trying to make a video for valentines day for my wife and I'm not even sure if FCP os capable of making these transition or clips but I'm wondering if somone could point me in the right direction. The transitions I speak of are in the included link. If anyone could help I would appreciate it

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum.

You can create any transition or effect you want in FCP X. There are many different effects in that video. The very first effect is a 3D-like group animation of stills, easier to do with a compositing or mograph application such as Motion 5. But most of the other affects are picture-in-picture animations.

If you are familiar with editing you will know how to create picture-in-picture animations. It's no different in FCP X than in other applications: superimpose different stills or clips, scale and crop them and animate them over time using keyframes. If you want to apply an animation to a group of clips, group-select them and press ALT+G to create a compound clip. Now you can animate the group.

So the real question is: do you have any experience with picture-in-picture editing and keyframing?

ok Thanks for your answer Ronny. Well it looks like im in over my head my video editing skill are not quite that in depth. the most i know it basic stuff like using window movie maker to swap out videos and for photos and make it a little custom with my own photos so I have been working on this on FCP. FCP is a lot more detailed. I have learned how to Cut the video into segments as I am using the video above and taking out all the people and using my own photos and leaving justin timberlake clips in. im not sure how to delete the people clips without the next video clip sliding down and ruining the audio sync. Any help would be great. Only got a week left thanks Steve
