Yes, the fcpx 10.1.4 is still very slow when there are too many items in your timeline.
We just finished a TV show for tv5 in france. With 8 channels from studio.
And each channel has 1 video mxf file and 8 audio mxf files and , it's 30minutes long.
The tv show is about 3 hours, and there was a rehearsing the day before the show.
So all the record time is about 6 hours.
6*2*8*9=864 HD 50i Dnxhd files, each 30 minutes.
The fcpx gui is unresponsive even with most powerful 12-core mac pro 2013 2*D700!
Everyone can try yourself to see your computer's performance!
Do a lot of cuttings, and dissolves when your have over 2000 items on your timeline,
(you can see how many by select all and it shows on the right-up corner)
what's your feeling?
Even generate the waveform is a headache problem. It cost a very long time.
Why can not close the function?????!
Everyone knows that avid won't die and fcp7 with mxf plugin won't die!
So we transcoded each 1 video mxf and 8 audio mxf to 1 prores422.mov.
That gave us 6*2*8 HD 50i files.
This time the fcpx's gui is always unresponsive also.
We have 5 mac pros, all the same problem!
Then we change the timeline to 25p to edit, it looked a bit well, and finally we finish it.
May be the next time, we first transcode, then use 25p timeline, not 25i.
So, again, fcpx10.1.4<fcp7<Avid for this kind of editing.
Our hard disk is about 600MB/S 8Gbps fiber for each mac pro!
And it works very well on fcp7. Don't push the problem to the hard disk!

Replied by artofoe on topic Very slow performance for TV editing, 10.1.4 is still has problem!
I think if you use avid or fcp7, you won't spend time on transcoding!
Just drag these files on timeline, using 8 video tracks and 8 audio tracks
then editing!
Smoothly!!!!!
