GoPro Issue with Time Index

GoPro Issue with Time Index was created by wynnjon
Why is it when I view the video in VLC media player to mark down the clips I want out of the video, it has a time index that starts at 0:00:00. However, when I run it through FCP X it has a time index of 10:33:43. I get that this is the cumulative time the gopro has been recording... but I want to see the clip start at zero in FCP so that I can use VLC media player to watch all my footage and mark down the times for later use in FCP for editing.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

See if you can find a media player that displays timecode, maybe QuickTime 7.

I am not able to see the Timecode in Quicktime. I also tried to find a plugin for VLC but no dice.
I was able to use a work around I found to create a compound clip of the video in FCP and mark it to start at 0:00:00:00.
I went through all my video footage and wrote down the time index so I don't want to have to watch it all again- so I will use this workaround. However, going forward I will probably just watch the clip in FCP and use the time index on the camera.
Thanks again,
Jones

Did you using QT7 or QTX? You can change the display in QT7.

Quick Time 7. However, I do not have that as an option. I see "Standard" and "Frame Number" but not Timecode.

That's strange. I'll have to get some GoPro footage to see what it's doing.

Yea, I have this issue on the newer GoPro Hero 4- (and I believe 3+) but not the older Hero 3. (I don't think anyway... I don't have that camera anymore and don't remember the version it was filmed with.)
