How would one do this. I've selected what i want to use in all of my clips. Soon to be old way was to append the clips as i select the range to the timeline. Now i just want to turn all of these used ranges into a favorite list so that i can just show the favorites. catch my drift??? I'm sure it's so basic and will kick myself in the are when someone shows me.

When you make your selects you should mark them as favorites.

Well I went ahead and singularly selected each clip...155 of'em! Then marked them as favorites and am sitting back shaking my head as to why I have been editing with FCPX since day one and haven't done this yet!!!!!! Wow what an unbelievable amount of time this will save. however is there an way to select all of the used ranges and mark them as favorites. thats ay i can go back into other projects and do it????

Yes this can now be easily done, per a fairly recent update to FCP X. Procedure:

(1) In media browser, first ensure the filter at top left is set to "All Clips".

(2) CTRL-click on event and select "New Smart Collection", then name it "unused" or whatever your preferred name.

(3) Double-click on your new "unused" smart collection, which brings up the filter HUD. Click on the + and add "Used Media" as a filter. Immediately the browser will only show used media ranges.

(4) In the browser just CTRL-A to select all then hit "F" to mark as favorites.
