So here is the thing. I've never exported MTS footage before and it seems like FCPX can import it properly. However I have this "camcorder" icon along with the footage, and the export menu are all grey that stops me exporting. Could anyone help me out there? Thanks in advance.

That happens is the video hasn't be imported properly. Try using the reimport from camera function.

Hi Jack,

The camcorder icon on your clips means that your footage has not been imported properly and the clip is still referring the media on the card or card archive.

You need to select all clips that show this camera icon and choose File > Import > Re-import from Camera/Archive. Then WAIT until all the footage has really been imported, and the camera icon will disappear. Then you will be able to export.
